DIFFERENT FRESH APPLE CAKE Connie Purvis Troutdale, OR 4 cup apples 2 teaspoons baking soda 1 cup oil** 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 cup sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon 2 eggs 1 small can pineapple(8oz) 2 & 1/2 cup flour 1 cup walnuts Mix oil, sugar, eggs and pineapple (do not drain) in a bowl. In another bowl mix the flour, cinnamon, soda, salt, apples and nuts. Mix all ingredients together and pour into a well greased and lightly floured 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees F over for 45 to 50 minutes. Glaze or frost if desired. **The original recipe called for 1 & 1/2 cups oil. We find that a cup is sufficient. My husband's grandmother was Hattie Towne. She was born in Wheaton, Chippewa County, Wisconsin on October 24, 1866.
